Human Origins Episode Is Little More Than Thinly Veiled Bible Study
The first few minutes of the Human Origins episode will lead the viewer to believe that they are viewing a science based documentary and then it happens. About 1/2 way into the film they start explaining that human origins are only about 5000 or so years old and that Moses and the other good folks of the Bible roamed the earth living for more than a thousand years and, oh yes, there was a severe decline in the human population due to a cataclysmic event that could be none other than the great flood that cleansed the sinful earth save a couple of animals here and there rescued by the faithful Noah. Don't bother watching if you are looking for a scientific documentary. Enjoy if you are looking for someone to tell you that your religions beliefs can be harmonized with science (although most scientist would disagree the way the director goes about it).
Easy on the I.Q. ...and content.
These 26 minute pseudo-documentaries are easy on the I.Q. but barely cover anything about the named topic. They provide absolutely nothing new or interesting if you have any familiarity with a topic. A good example episode is the one on the Kecksburg UFO. If you know anything about the Kecksburg UFO you'll find this lightweight treatment of the incident to be grossly lacking in relevant details and missing just about everything that is truly controversial about that story. If you know nothing about a particular topic you will not be too irritated watching the episode but it will be like eating a Thanksgiving dinner in a dream -- you will walk away annoyingly unsatisfied almost feeling like you have been tricked. The recreations are amateurish bordering on goofy and you will not get any substantial information about any side of the story -- which is not the same as "showing both sides" as some reviewers have said. Providing insufficient information from which to draw any conclusion is...
very interesting
