The show is a hoot. My 91 year old Mom really enjoyed it and I laughed out loud. Unfortunately the information about the show is incorrect. The show is episode 42 not the first and it first aired 3-22-1949 not 12-31-1969.

This show belongs in a museum
If you love the history of entertainment, this is a classic that should be in a museum. Of course it is old, and sophomoric, but they were using equipment that we wouldn't use now to film home movies! The guests, the interaction of the stars and the actual trip back into a time machine where we could see what our parents,.... check that, our grandparents were watching on a magical new device, tv, was just fascinating. Much of the style and delivery of comedy and song is still in use today even though it was being invented during this show. "Loved it!"

LOVE IT!
Classic comedy at it's best! Milton Berle is a comedy genius and having Ethel Merman on the show makes it perfect. There is an amazing acrobat performance near the beginning. Definitely worth watching!
