The Hardy Boys: Season 3

HARDY BOYS SEASON THREE - A VERY PLEASANT SURPRISE
*UPDATE 2/14/13* Unfortunately, the print quality of this release is that of VHS (especially when played on a standard DVD player), but if this shortcoming can be overlooked, it still makes for very enjoyable programming. And most important is that fans of the show can now have a completed series for their library. Enjoy!

What a very pleasant surprise to find out that Shout Factory had acquired the rights to the final season of the HARDY BOYS, and here we are with an official release date of February 12, 2013!

Pin-up idols Parker Stephenson and Shaun Cassidy reprise their roles in Season three as brothers Joe and Frank Hardy, formerly college age amateur detectives. By Season three of The Hardy Boys series (which had very entertaining episodes, despite the absence of Nancy Drew), the boys, now grown up, have become professional agents for the Justice Department. This was a light-hearted detective series that had a wonderfully easy and undemanding escapism about...

FINALLY! FINALLY!
The long-awaited Season Three release, that contains the best episode of the whole series, "Last Kiss of Summer, long available only through *cough cough* other sources *cough cough*! Season Three gives us the Hardy Boys, grown up. The writing improved, the acting improved, the brothers were placed in more dangerous & more serious situations -- gone were the cheesy voodoo & flying saucer cases. Instead, we get Frank & Joe helping a scared woman defect to the West, rescuing a woman about to sold by pirates, Joe going on a rampage of revenge to avenge his fiance's death, Frank going deep undercover to bring down a financial scam...and Frank being shown to have severe issues with his constant role of gaining someone's trust, only to break it...

The changes to season three confused a lot of the show's teenage fans at the time, but re-watching them now, as an adult, one can see the potential that ABC had for the series...and lost by cancelling it. This will be a worthy finish to...

Yeah! Season 3 awaits!
All I can say is , it is about time! :) The opening theme is disco and so different from season one and two. I myself never liked the change and the fact that they dropped Nancy Drew from the line up was disappointing . Especially when Pamela Sue Martin left the show. Season three was okay for it's run but as I'm thinking about it..it now brings back memories of my childhood . Looking forward to this dvd when it comes out in Feb. Not only is was the music changed but the boys left their home town,' Bayport. And here again we are missing our favorite characters....Aunt Gertrude, Chet Morton and Callie Shaw, then eventually Fenton Hardy.
