Chang for a Change
This is an outstanding series. Chang is an articulate, knowledgeable and passionate chef. Bourdain's narration is well crafted and insightful. The production values in this series make for entertaining viewing and mouthwatering montages about food, even food I don't like is made to look enticing. Chang and the chefs featured are true geniuses and noting how they respect, elevate and reinterpret the most prosaic of ingredients is awe inspiring.
I was somewhat familiar with Chang through the Lucky Peach issue on Ramen. At that time, I deplored his excessive use of the "F" word, finding it distracting, demeaning to the food and reader and showing a lack of vocabulary skills. I still feel that way in the episodes, even when the "F" word and "S" word are bleeped. I am glad Chang kept these words to a minimum in taping, revealing his thoughtful and introspective intelligence.
I watched all the episodes on my Kindle Fire and look forward to Season 2.
Awesome
Great show, very interesting especially if you're into the ins and outs of cuisine around the world. Very inspiring for "home kitchen chefs" like me.
Very interesting and entertaining
David Chang is a great host and the program does an almost perfect job of appealing equally to food/cooking aficionados and the non-foodie general public. The series is very interesting and varied in terms of foods/location addressed, it just sometimes is a bit too insider-baseball which keeps The Mind of a Chef from getting five stars.
